Platform documentation & further reading:

A post photo and a link card are different

A photo you upload appears as a post attachment. A link preview gets its image from the linked website. Editing a local image will not change that website’s preview; the website itself needs to use the updated image.

Keep the headline readable

Keep text short and leave space at both sides of the image. Check the crop at a small size, and compare the exported file size with X’s photo upload limit.

Frequently asked questions

Must every X image be 1200 × 628?

No. This is one landscape preset. Use the general cropper or a different preset for square or vertical artwork.

Why is my file rejected even at the right dimensions?

Pixel dimensions and file size are different measurements. X lists a 5 MB photo limit and supported file formats. Check the JPEG file size and lower quality if needed.

Can this preserve GIF animation?

No. The current exporter creates a still JPEG. Keep the original GIF for an animated post.
