  3. 3Click Process all to generate the result, then copy the complete text or download a UTF-8 TXT file.

Specifications and output

Use this tool when you need the words from an existing subtitle file, such as for reading, notes or editing a transcript. The result has no timing information and cannot replace a timed subtitle file for playback.

Choose a layout for reading or further editing

One line per cue keeps the boundaries between subtitle entries while joining line breaks inside each entry. This is useful when reviewing dialogue in sequence. Paragraph mode joins all entries with spaces, giving you a single block of text to paste into a document.

Both layouts keep the original entry order and wording. They do not add punctuation, rewrite sentences or remove repeated dialogue, so a transcript assembled from subtitles may still need editing before publication.

Remove display tags without losing the dialogue

Subtitles may include inline tags such as <i> or ASS overrides such as {an8}, which control how text is displayed. Remove tags strips this markup from the result; turn it off when you need to inspect the original inline instructions. Empty entries can be removed separately, without deduplicating repeated speech.

Common questions

Why is some dialogue missing from the preview?

The preview shows only the first 20,000 characters to keep large files manageable. Copy text and TXT downloads include the complete result. If the preview starts with garbled characters, change the selected file’s input encoding before exporting.

Can TXT be used as a subtitle file?

TXT output contains dialogue without start and end times, so it cannot be used as an ordinary timed subtitle track. Keep the original subtitle file, or use Subtitle converter when you need to change formats while preserving timing.

Can this tool transcribe speech or read subtitles from a video?

It reads existing SRT, VTT, ASS and SSA files only. It does not transcribe audio, extract embedded subtitle tracks, or recognize text burned into video frames. You need a separate subtitle file before using this tool.
